The paper winning the Wolfgang Metzger Award 2009 tries to extend the known Gestalt principles of perceptual organization (grouping, shape formation) to visual meaning, arriving at a new theory of perceptual organization based on this interrelated tripartition of forms.
The award ceremony and the award winner's lecture were part of the program of the 16th Scientific Convention of the GTA (March 26-26, 2009, Osnabrueck, Germany).
The award lecture of Baingio Pinna, titled "New Gestalt Principles of Perceptual Organization: An Extension from Grouping to Shape and Meaning" has been published in Gestalt Theory - An International Multidisciplinary Journal vol. 32(1), March 2010.
